A: cellcontrol will block as many or as few devices at the SAME TIME as desired by the account administrator. Blocking is determined by which mobile devices have the software and policy in place.
- Q: How does cellcontrol know I am the driver?
A: The cellcontrol unit and phone recognize each other and determine if the phone is listed as a participant with that cellcontrol unit. If the unit and phone are a match, the phone will be blocked. The account administrator can determine which phones are blocked in which vehicles.
- Q: Since the cellcontrol unit uses Bluetooth to my car’s computer, can I be hacked?
A: Information from the vehicle is sent to the phone from the cellcontrol unit. It is not an open channel for other Bluetooth devices to use. In addition, the cellcontrol unit is a "Read Only" device. This will not allow a hacker to affect your car in any way.
- Q: What if my phone does not have Bluetooth? How will it work? If my car is older than 1996 do I have other options?
A: cellcontrol requires bluetooth and vehicles newer than 1996 to function properly.
- Q: If my husband and I are both in car, are we both blocked?
A: It depends upon the cellcontrol policy that has been defined by the administrator. Both can be blocked or certain phones can be assigned to certain vehicles and selective blocking can take place. These settings are controlled by the account administrator through the online management console.
